An evening at the Thea-TAH

Last night, my Mom-in-law and I treated ourselves to a night at the "TheaTAH" (said with pinkie in the air). We saw the touring production of "The Light in the Piazza" at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle and boy did we have a great time. The music was beautiful and being set in 1950's Italty it was like watching a 50's musical on stage. Very sweet and romantic! I highly recommend it for an wonderful evening of escapism!

Notice the lack of nervous anticipation as market approaches. For all of us feverishly toiling away at the moment I highly recommend taking a well deserved normal life break. Reward yourself! :)

The ostrich takes her head out of the ground - for a moment...

{ Market countdown: 20 days! }

SHWEW! It's off to the publisher. It's funny how the last minute details will be the death of a project. So I was sewing and typing until the last minute. I keep telling myself "Boy! Would I have done a few things different...", but of course hind sight is 20-20 eh? Still, I'm SO EXCITED and RELIVED and just about ten other emotions that come to mind at the moment. Here is my pile o' quilts reading to be toted off to the publisher! It feels so professional (did I say that?) to have photo labels on my quilts and a manuscript hot off a smoking printer.

Well, now onto the next project! The Mummy Mambo quilt is just about finished and Quilt Market preparations are coming together. I am so excited and feel utterly blessed to be working in this industry. It's exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. Now I shall stick my head back in the ground and wait for the next deadline to pass...

Christmas in April?

{ Market countdown: 28 days! }
I'm so excited this is finally ready to get out into the public eye. It's one of my favorites now! I know, I know... we're not supposed to have favorites I suppose, but honestly, sometimes I look at my quilts and think what the heck was I thinking?! But then they grow on me!

Here is my latest pattern called "Jolly Holiday" which will be making it's debut at Spring Market. So this one is off to be photographed, along with the rest of my collection. My current patterns have some homegrown pictures on them, and they do just fine...but after looking at all the great pictures on patterns lately I've decided to upgrade so to speak.

Quilts gone wild - The true confessions of an unraveled quilter

Well, after nicely cleaning up my studio last week, it once again looks like a bomb has exploded in a quilt shop. This weekend was a blur as I quilting furiously, finishing up the last three quilts for my book... well okay, one still has some binding work to do, but all in all I'd say we got some real progress made!
{ Witness the Carnage and Aftermath }

I say we because I recruited my mom-in-law to do the binding on one for me - THANKS JEANNE! I'd also like to thank my Mom and Dad who have made a kind donation of time and moolah for booth "goodies", pattern editing, testing and a brand spankin' new laser printer. WOO-HOO! My whole family it feeling the Market burn.

The rest of this week will be spent muddling through the final stages of my manuscript, crossing t's and dotting i's. I must confess that I did procrastinate a bit, sneaking out for a manicure on Sunday and enjoying some home-made Mojitos on Friday night.. *ahem*
On our outing Friday evening for said Mojito ingredients, I stumbled across this sweet bird planter full of miniature roses that I just had to give a good home. I am pretty anxious to see the roses bloom - according to the little plant stake it's supposed to be three colors in the same plant. Way cool.... if I manage to keep it alive that long. I have a reputation for a brown thumb with indoor plants - but I'll keep thinking positive thoughts on that one! :)
