So I was browing around on the Wee Wonderfuls blog and came across this article on Hillary Lang. As I was reading, this great quote just made me laugh and thought I'd share:
"woohoo! Ah crap, when am I going to do that!"
I would say that just about sums up my life on a daily basis - the roller coaster that is life and I think all of us can relate. Just yesterday I was chatting with a friend and started listing off all the stuff I have to do that doesn't seem to be getting done. It went from a Woo-hoo look at all this neat stuff I get to do, and then the "oh crap" moment set in. Still having a great time designing and making quilty things and just finishing up a project I'll post here in a bit.

Spring Is In The Air
Well, we got the itch to see the great outdoors this weekend and took a quick trip up to Snoqualamie Falls on Sunday. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it! What a beautiful site it is, even in Winter, and the falls were just spectacular. The crocus were coming up and the daffodils were even starting to poke their heads out towards the sun. While there, we enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast at the Salish Lodge where I had the most decadent french toast made of croissants. YUM!
One the quilting front I am just finishing up the sample for a Christmas pattern that I think is turning out to be quite nice (if I do say so myself.) Just in time for market, the weeks are speeding by and my sewing machine is tackling projects just as fast as I can. Full speed ahead! :)

Wonders never cease...
I have always know and admired the fact that as quilters we all come at the "craft" with a variety of viewpoints and interests. My husband owns a vintage automobile restoration business, Vintage Customs, here in Auburn, WA that specializes in vintage Alfa Romeos and other italian vehicles. So, OF COURSE, we are heading out to Michigan in August for the National Alfa Romeo convention in Detroit. He has dutifuly assigned me the head organizer of our trip and in my research found that I too would have something to do! A group of renegade cross-over interest quilters have organized an Alfa Romeo quilting workshop "tech session" that has totally piqued my interest. This as completely solidified my theory that if you look hard enough you will find a quilter to chat with just about anywhere.

Where did the weekend go?
The weekend went by like a bolt of lightening, but at least a lot got acomplished here in the Walker household... The ususal, grocery shopping, cleaning, book and pattern writing etc. Weekends like this make me feel like one of those modern super women, if you know what I mean.
Part of my busy weekend meant making some much needed progress on my book... But, everyone needs a break, so I took the opportunity to snap a picture of my companion here in the studio. I hear that lots of quilters have cats that like to snuggle down into their owners fabric stashes. Well, I have a quilting DOG! My beautiful Akita, Ginger... She's my ever constant companion here in the studio and she keeps me in my place quite frequently by leaning on the foot of my chair. So, here she is, passed out asleep on my studio floor. It was so cute I wanted to share.
The rose bush from Valentines day got planted which then meant I had to prune my long time roses here in the garden. They came with the house and were obviously well loved by the previous owners so I feel inclined to continue nurturing them so I can have even more flowers in my house during the warm summer months. The pesky weeds have started cropping up here and there and stopped many of them in their tracks with my trusty garden tools.
As a sneak peek, and to prove to myself that I'm making progress on my patterns, here is a basket of fabric collected for a new Autumn themed pattern I'm working on. Creamy yellows, rusty reds and chocolate browns. Maybe someday it will grow into a quilt!

Rose Colored Glasses
Valentines day came and went and my sweet husband bought me roses... in the variety that keeps on giving! I received a lovely potted rose "Princess of Wales" and I can't wait to plant it this weekend. I'll even more eagerly await the blooms that are sure to flourish this Summer. I picture myself having vases of roses on every table in the house and will temporarily disregard the care and time it takes to grow really beautiful roses!

Applique is for everyone - even if they don't know it yet!
I had a great (but busy) weekend that included teaching a class at the Calico Cat in Auburn, WA in Beginning Machine Applique. What a lovely group of ladies showed up to learn all about "gluing" and stitching fabric. The best part of the class was not only watching everyone take to it like a duck to water, but to see one of these gals who was taking the class as a last ditch effort be the first one to complete the project!
I've had such a nice response to the class sample that I will be turning it into a full fledged pattern and hope to have it up for your enjoyment soon. All I can say is yellow pinwheels, polka dots and cute red tulips - it's a breath of fresh air on these gray winter days.
